Q. **** What is Share Text?
A. ShareText.org is a very simple text sharing service. Simply type or paste text, enter in any descriptive tags, then send the link to your friends.

Q. **** Why would I share text like this?
A. Sometimes you want to share text with a friend/colleague, but typical communication means are not available. Perhaps you're behind a proxy and can't use an IM, or maybe you're on a library computer.

Q. **** What about Privacy?
A. The ShareText.org app keeps track of the date and time when a post was made. We do not store any cookies, or keep track of other information besides what the web server normally logs (ie: IP, OS, Browser)

Q. **** What does "Make private" do?
A. This simply makes it so your post will not come up on any search results, and it won't be displayed on the "Latests Posts" section either. But if *anybody* types in the posts direct URL, they will be able to see it.

Q. **** How does word-wrapping work?
A. For general text, it's more readable to wrap long lines of text into multiple lines. But in other circumstances, such as reading programing code, not wrapping text can actually be more readable. When creating the post you have the option of setting word-wrap on, so when you send the link to a friend, word wrap will automatically be present. Though they still have the option to turn it off if they want. If you're posting something like ASCII art, where spacing is important, make sure to keep word wrap Off.

Q. **** What is the Printer Friendly version of a post?
A. The printer friendly version of the post just contains the post's text without any headers or other html from ShareText, this is useful for printing, or for viewing on a mobile phone. You can access the printer friendly version of a post by either clicking the "print" link on the post's page, or by simply adding a /p at the end of that post's URL.

Q. **** What are Line numbers for?
A. Line number are usually used when posting scripts or other code. They won't show up when you're creating the post, but they will when a user views the post. Optionally the viewer can turn them off.
